Just 50 spaces for stalls at Lincoln's Christmas Market are still up for grabs following a rush of applications.

The City of Lincoln Council is urging those who want a space at the most popular event in the city's calendar to apply now to avoid disappointment.

So far 150 places have been allocated to stallholders from across Lincolnshire, the rest of the country and abroad.

Amanda Batham, events team leader for the City of Lincoln Council, said: "We're about 75 per cent full in terms of allocating stalls, so there are around 50 places still up for grabs.

We've had some fantastic applications so far from all over the UK and abroad, and we're looking for good quality goods and produce to further enhance the standard of the market.

"Once we've allocated all the available spaces, we will open a reserve list"

Those who make it onto the reserve list will only get a spot at the festive event if another stallholder can no longer make it or the council has the opportunity to increase the amount of stalls at the market.

"Anyone who sees this as a good trading opportunity for their business should get an application in as soon as possible," said Ms Batham.

Street entertainment, festive entertainment and rural crafts will be just some of the highlights on offer at the market this year – which will run from Thursday, December 3, to Sunday, December 6.
