Former City of Lincoln Council leader Darren Grice to be kicked off authority
A former City of Lincoln Council leader will be kicked off the authority after failing to attend any meetings in the last six months.
Councillor Darren Grice’s attendance has plummeted since he and the Conservative Party lost control of City Hall in 2011.
Cllr Grice represents more than 7,000 constituents in Lincoln Bracebridge ward.
But his failure to attend full council on Tuesday evening means he will be dismissed as a councillor.

Cllr Grice has attended 18 meetings in the last two years out of a possible 58.
In the last 12 months turned up to one out of a possible 10.
He failed to attend any meetings in the last six months.
According to Section 86 of the Local Government Act 1972, a councillor who fails to attend meetings for six months loses their position and a by-election must be triggered.
Andrew Taylor, chief executive of the City of Lincoln Council, said: “Where a member does not attend any meeting of the council for a period of six consecutive months, then they cease to be a member of the council.
“This is unless they have received prior approval from us. No such request has been received from councillor Grice.
“There are no grounds for an authority to retrospectively approve a reason for failure to attend meetings after the six month period has expired.
“The council must now declare the vacancy.
“We are therefore now preparing a timetable and will announce further details once this is finalised.”
A by-election must now be held within 35 days of July 8 when voters will go to the polls.
Cllr Grice last attended a meeting on January 8.
