Imps chairman ready to swoop for loan signings following tough start
BOB DORRIAN has admitted Lincoln City will enter the loan market sooner than anticipated as the club seek to end their dismal start to the season.
The Imps chairman revealed Imps boss Chris Sutton is on the lookout for fresh faces to end a sequence of three successive defeats.

Lincoln City chairman Bob Dorrian.
Torquay United were the latest side to inflict misery on the club as they strolled to a 2-0 victory at Sincil Bank on Saturday with the final whistle punctured by a chorus of boos.
Having spoken with Sutton over the weekend, the City supremo conceded there could be activity in the transfer market, but stressed the Imps would not spend money for the sake of it.
"It has been a disappointing start and I really feel for the management, staff and the supporters," he said.
"I have spoken with Chris and he is immensely frustrated and the result is that we will enter the loan market sooner than anticipated.
"Chris has identified players and I know he is busy trying to bring them to the club and there could be some movement this week.
"There are funds available to him, but we will not be spending money for the sake of it, because we are only just three games into the season.
"But if Chris comes to us having identified a player who is a must-have then we will push the boat out to bring him here."
Dorrian insisted that while Lincoln had lost their opening three games of the campaign, a run that has left them rooted to the foot of the table and out of the Carling Cup, there was no cause for panic.
He understands the supporters' frustrations, but was quick to remind fans that it was still a new team and said the Imps' start could not have been much tougher.
"I think we all wanted to see the team get off to a great start, but on reflection we could not have asked for a tougher beginning," he said.
"Rotherham are fancied to do well this year having reached the play-off final last term, then we had Leeds in the Carling Cup.
"There's a considerable gulf between the Championship and League Two and on Saturday we played Torquay, who finished last season strongly and have been on a great run.
"It does not get any easier because we have Gillingham on Saturday.
"But there is certainly no cause for panic. We have only played three games of the season and it must be remembered this team is still in the process of gelling.
"There is no magic formula and it could be up to two months before everybody is settled down and has an understanding of each other."
Meanwhile, details of Lincoln City's trip to Rotherham in the Johnstone Paint Trophy have been confirmed.
The Imps will travel to the Millers on August 31 for the first-round clash (7.45pm).
Ronnie Moore's side have already enjoyed victory against the Imps this season, winning 2-1 on the first day of the campaign.

“There is nothing to worry about at the minute in my opinion. Teams take time to gel together. Just look at all the money Man City have spent this summer and they only managed a 0-0 draw with spurs at the weekend. I don't hear of any Man City fans calling for Mancini to be sacked...”

“GrannyImp. Herd and Baker are listed as reserves on Villa's website. Saunders is listed in "other squad players" on Fulham's. They also have a section for players on loan and he is not listed in there.”

“Thanks Chris Jericho - one answer at last! Any one got any clues on questions 1,2 and 4 from my earlier post?”

“with regard to the trialists ,of the 3 we had 2 returned and 1, hamada noussoura adifan ( a midfielder) has returned and a big sentre back (jemel) has come aswell on trial.im led to believe adifan impressed on trial and is back now and the club are looking to tie up a contract with him”

“Mac and Tony.... i wish i could be a little more optimistic, and i agree i did miss off Somma who was probably the best player they brought in, but lets be realistic, we were never going to sign him permanently.
His presence provided a "quick fix" that hid the underlying problems of the team, because some goals were going in.
Pearce is a washed up ex pro who should be off the pitch more than on it, and provide his levels of experience from there.
I know teams / managers need time to build, but having given up watching s**t performance after s**t at the bank last year, this year i have no desire to go until the current management are gone.
£18 for a ticket to watch a team routed to the bottom ranks of league 2, and showing zero signs of improvement, just doesnt motivate me anymore.
you can go and watch Wigan week in week out in the premiership for £25!!.....When i go and watch Spurs, Cat C games in the North / South stand are only £27.50!!
I know im coming across as a disgruntled "supporter", and people are saying you should support the team through thick and thin.....but unfortunately the last few seasons have been nothing but disappointing, and we have started the same way as finishing last year.........poorly!”

“Oh Dan, come on be fair!
Are you saying neither Davide Somma, Nathan Baker, Eric Lichaj, or Matt Saunders were any good?!?!?
Clearly we have issues all over the field, and perhaps they are not all quick fixes. Maybe we need more than one closed season to remedy the historical problems left by Messers Jackson and Schofield?
The defence is clearly lacking an experienced centre-back. I think we can all see that. I'm not sure a young lad on loan from anywhere will solve this problem. I don't know if the coaching is failing in this area or the players simply aren't good enough, but there clearly isn't an out-and-out leader in there.
The centre of midfield just doesn't have that box-to-box drive in it. Kerr and Keltie are decent enough in their own way, but we don't have that drive in there to get up close to the forward(s).
Up front we just don't have that predator, six-yard box man, or any kind of goalscoring quality. As has been said, these players don't come cheaply and are few and far between.
I do believe we are improving in some areas, but clearly not in others. One thing is for sure, and that is the sacking of another manager so soon will just put us back to square one again. Give these 2 some time for god's sake. Rome wasn't built in a day!”

“If they think the message from Sutton is wrong and therefore don't take notice, how do they know it's wrong. If they are refusing to listen then they are to blame. We are getting the ball forward now but we don't make use of it because we don't have a goal scorer like Somma. Broughton fluffs his chances, probably due to a lack of confidence but he is not a 20+ a season striker. We need one and we need a better defence, that is obvious. We had Baker last season. But we also need experience like Pearce and Clapham. It is early and we have played some of the fancied teams so I'm not worried yet. However if it does go on then the management will have to realize that the players can't do what they are asking and will have to change tactics to suit the players we have. Obviously, most L2 players can't play like Championship players.”

“Macimp.....if the players are not motivated by the manager and he continues to bark orders which from their point of view are incorrect, then he will never get them to understand.
I agree, they "should" listen as its part of their role is to listen to the manager, but surely after a year in charge almost and we are no further on than when Sutton got here (we have gone backwards), then questions need to be asked.
I'm fed up of hearing "we dont have a main striker", thats not the problem at all....we cant get the ball to the strikers we have already, and thats because the players are confused by what Suttons asking from them......plus, i think the players he has brought in, arent particulary interested in being there.
The only player i thought was any good who he brought in was the young lad from Villa Chris Herd.”

“If the players give up listening to the manager then they should be sacked. If they are not listening and therefore not doing as he asks, how do we know he does not know what he is talking about? If what you say is true we can only conclude that the players don't know what they are doing. Perhaps they should star listening.”
