City striker Tomlinson backs his buddy to return to front line at Hereford
Striker Ben Tomlinson has backed his buddy to burst back on the scene and cement a regular place in the Lincoln City starting line-up.
Tomlinson, who scored his fourth goal of the season in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Luton, insists it is just a matter of time before his best friend in football Waide Fairhurst is back in the hearts and minds of Imps supporters.
Illness interrupted Fairhurst’s promising start to the season, when he missed out on the 1-1 draw away at Barnet.
Now, three games later, the 24-year-old is hoping to be back in Gary Simpson’s starting line-up for the trip to Hereford United tomorrow evening.

“Waide has had a bit of an illness so that’s why he has not been in the team,” said Tomlinson.
“But it’s only a matter of time before he is. He is a great player. I have worked with him for a couple of years now and I know what that kid’s potential is and it’s frightening.
"So, although it might not be going the way he wants it to at the moment, it’s only a matter of time before it will be."
Tomlinson has been asked to play a lone role up front while his strike partner Fairhurst recovers and his work rate and stamina are quickly endearing him to the Lincoln City faithful.
Tomlinson, though, is the first to admit his four goals this season have come about through the efforts and talents of his team-mates.
“I have scored four goals and they have all been one-touch goals,” Tomlinson added. “They have all been in the box. But now I need to be getting the goals that rely more on my own ability, maybe from taking someone on or sticking one in the stantion as opposed to the little tap in’s.
"I have definitely got that in my locker it’s just a matter of time before you see it.”
