A new school book club welcomed the author of one of the books they are studying.

Sarah Hammond accepted the invitation to call in at Market Rasen De Aston School.

She spoke to 25 Key Stage 3 students about the importance of using their imagination when writing a story.

The author took along a bag of writing tips, asked students to pick them out of the bag and think about how they would help when writing.

The objects included a fancy dress outfit – to demonstrate the importance of getting into character.

De Aston Book Club members are reading Sarah Hammond's 'The Night Sky In My Head' as their first book.

"The idea behind the club was that it would be a fun place where students could read new books, share recommendations and basically cultivate their love of reading," said founder Libby Humphrey.
