Council considers future of The Lawn complex in Lincoln

The future of The Lawn complex in Lincoln is now being considered.

The City of Lincoln Council wants to sell the former asylum, in Union Road, amid spiralling maintenance costs.

The authority has invited private bids.

Businessman Jonathan Pass, who owns the Charlotte House Hotel, has submitted a seven-figure bid and has a multi-million pound vision which includes a conference centre and hotel with a restaurant, bistro and public bar.

Ric Metcalfe, leader of the council, said the authority needs to look at the financial viability, acceptability and conservation credentials of what is proposed.

"We are now going through that process," he said.

"There's certainly a lot of public interest in this sale and we need to get it right."
