Council house rents go up in Lincoln

Council house tenants in Lincoln are to pay an average of £2.33 a week more in rent.

The City of Lincoln Council has agreed to increase the current average actual 52 week rent from £63.60 per week to £65.93 per week – an average increase of 3.66% per cent from April 1.

Changes in individual rents will vary depending on the level of actual current rent against the target rent for the

Garage rents are also going up 23p a week from April to £6.44 a week.   The council says that not rising rents at this stage would see inflation-busting increases in 2014/15 and 2015/16.

And a lower increase in 2013/14 would also less funding for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the city's council housing.
