Filmmakers are preparing for the official release of a new coming-of-age drama which was partly filmed on Lincolnshire's coast.

A Boy Called Dad tells the story of a troubled teenager who becomes a father at 14, and in dealing with his newfound circumstance reconnects with his own estranged dad.

Among the actors who appear in the film is Ian Hart, who played a teacher possessed by the spirit of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Emily Lappin, a spokesman for East Midlands (EM) Media who co-financed the project said they were "incredibly proud" of the film.

"It is a moving story featuring remarkable performances from the young Kyle Ward and Ian Hart.

"The film shot in a variety of locations across the East Midlands but the audiences fortunate enough to have seen the film in Edinburgh all commented on the stunning coastal landscapes of Lincolnshire.

"Lincolnshire is well known for its appearances in period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice and Da Vinci Code but the coast has been less well used.

"We think Anderby Creek in particular looks incredibly cinematic and we hope the Lincolnshire coastline becomes more prominent in even more movies."

A spokesman for East Lindsey District Council, James Gilbert, said: "I think people now appreciate the quality of the Lincolnshire coast as a place to visit, and it's great if we can get people to come and film as it influences more people to come and see what we have to offer.

"We're doing a lot to promote tourism in Skegness and something like this just reinforces that message."
