A CONFISCATION hearing to decide how much cash a Lincoln man pocketed from dealing cannabis was adjourned after the parties failed to agree a figure.

Anthony Dawidowski was jailed for 12 months in March after police discovered a drugs stash at his home when he was nearly killed by an intruder.

Officers recovered cannabis and more than £7,000 in cash after Dawidowksi, 53, was found collapsed at his bungalow in Saxon Street, off Rasen Lane, in March last year.

Dawidowski was left fighting for his life, requiring eight hours of emergency surgery and a gallon of blood. He had suffered 11 stab wounds including cuts to his face, neck, side and back and spent nearly two months in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Craig Smith, 27, the boyfriend of Dawidowski's former partner, Katy Stainton, must serve a minimum of ten years in prison after he was convicted of attempting to murder Dawidowski earlier this year.

But during the trial, it was revealed detectives investigating the stabbing found more than 200 grams of cannabis and £7,471 worth of cash during two searches of Dawidowski's bungalow.

Dawidowski later admitted jointly possessing the cannabis with Miss Stainton, with intent to sell to friends.

During interview, Dawidowski admitted buying the cannabis for his own personal use and insisted the majority of the cash found in his home was saved from his £1,200 monthly benefits.

A proceeds of crime hearing at Lincoln Crown Court was told another man had been prosecuted for possessing a large amount of cannabis, which he claimed to be "holding" for Dawidowski.

Adam Pearson, prosecuting, told the court: "The value of those drugs was in excess of £2,000."

Edna Leonard, defending, said Dawidowski disputed the cannabis was being looked after for him by a friend.

Mr Pearson asked for the hearing to be adjourned for further investigations into how much benefit Dawidowski has made from his criminal activity.

Dawidowski, who has completed his prison sentence, was ordered to reappear at Lincoln Crown Court for a further hearing later this year. Judge Michael Heath told him: "I am afraid this case will have to go off to another date."
