THE signing of the Armed Forces Community Covenant for Lincolnshire will take place today, Wednesday, June 20 at Royal Air Force College Cranwell.

Members of Lincolnshire's Armed Forces, civic dignitaries and community leaders have been invited to sign the statement at a ceremony at the historic College Hall.

The Community Covenant declares mutual support and practical help for Forces personnel and their families and is part of a national scheme launched by the Ministry of Defence in 2011 to improve links between the military and civilian communities.

Its aims to encourage local communities to support the Armed Forces Community in their areas, and vice-versa, to promote understanding and awareness amongst the public of issues affecting the Armed Forces community, to recognise and remember the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces Community and to encourage activities which help to integrate the Armed Forces community into local life.
