A DEFIANT Steve Plater insists he would have no qualms about returning to road racing next year – provided he can secure a top ride.

Plater's appalling crash at the North West 200 in May highlighted the dangers of road racing.

But despite suffering a broken neck and broken arm in the 120mph off, the Woodhall Spa hero is eyeing another crack at the Ulster venue in 2011, plus the Isle of Man TT, where he claimed victory in the Senior race in 2009.

After returning to track racing at Cadwell Park last month – finishing 12th – Plater has three rounds of the British Superstock 1000 Championship left to complete, including this weekend's meeting at Croft.

After a satisfactory return at Cadwell Park, the HM Plant Honda ace wants a podium finish before the end of his injury-disrupted year.

But he also has one eye on next year.

Plater has made no secret on of his desire for one last crack at Superbike racing.

However, he has vowed to sit tight until HM Plant unveil their plans for 2011.

"It all depends on what Honda are doing next year and what they offer me," he said. "I'm with the best team in the country and would like to stay with them.

"So my plans will be determined by what they're doing, whether they stay in the British Championship, do the Worlds or do nothing.

"I wouldn't have a problem going road racing again as long as I'm on a competitive bike. I know I'm fast around there. But whether I do the British Championship, concentrate on the roads or do something else remains to be seen."

Plater expects to be further up the Superstock field this weekend.

"Croft isn't as physical as Cadwell so I should be stronger there," he added.

Plater will be joined on the British Superstock 1000 grid by Lincoln rider Lee Jackson, who finished 16th at Cadwell on his Buildbase Kawasaki.

Leebob Jackson has vowed to stay focused on the job in hand at Croft this weekend, despite sealing a trial for next year's Red Bull Rookies Cup.

Immediately after this weekend's round of the British 125GP Championship, the Skellingthorpe rider will set off for Spain to take part in a Rookie's Selection Event.

If he impresses, the 14-year-old will be handed a place in the Rookies Cup, which was a breading ground for current MotoGP stars Andrea Dovizioso and Hiroshi Aoyama.

"The trial is on Tuesday and Wednesday so it's going to be a busy week," admitted the North Kesteven School pupil.

"The trial isn't about speed, it's about how they think they can develop you as a rider.

"But I've got Croft first. I've tested there and the track is pretty good. It's quite bumpy so it's just a case of staying smooth."

Leebob goes to Croft 10th overall in the championship and fourth in the ACU Academy Cup.

The weekend will see two 125GP races with the first – the postponed round from Knockhill – on Saturday.
