A specific operation targeting caravan sites has also seen a decrease in crime.

Officers are continuing to work to reduce anti-social behaviour, including with a dispersal order in the Wainfleet area.

Inspector Ball said: "The dispersal order has worked really, really well and the feedback has been very good. We are continuing with the order and will look at taking it off if things continue to improve and when the nights are lighter. The order is about behaviour which stops others going about their usual business. We will not let that happen, running feral around the town and affecting people who live there.

"We will also work with youth services and other agencies otherwise we could get the problems back again in the months to follow."

A special operation has also targeted shop lifers.

Inspector Ball said: "The economic climate is affecting people. There has also been a change in the type of items stolen . It is now meat, cheese and detergent instead of perfumes and clothes. Now it is items that people use frequently."

“Good News? This does not mean that 352 less crimes have been committed only that 352 less crimes have been reported!”
