The Cross Keys Bridge in Sutton Bridge will remain open during a week long strike period by UNISON members.

Three members of staff at the bridge are walking out in what they say is a row about pay.

They say their take home pay will be cut by around 13.5 per cent.

But Lincolnshire County Council say the workers were covered by a collective deal already agreed with its 6,000 staff and it is implementing those conditions.

Paul Coathup, Assistant Director of Highways and Transportation, said: "We are preparing our contingency plans but presently do not expect there will be too much disruption for the motorists.

"The bridge will generally remain open to road traffic and we fully expect to be able to accommodate river traffic too.

"There may be some inconvenience for leisure boats traveling through, but we will work hard to keep this to a minimum."
