Cutie Clayton tops the polls to take Echo's tasty trophy
The winners of the Lincolnshire Echo Baby and Toddler of the Year 2013 competition have been chosen.
Four local tots each received a trophy and a cash prize after readers voted for them to be crowned the cutest kids.
The overall winner was baby Clayton Williams, who won the 0-9 months category.
Seven-month-old Clayton lives in Hadrians Road, Bracebridge Heath, with his mum Yasmin Murphy and dad Dane Williams.
"We're ecstatic he's won – we entered him on the off-chance really, we didn't think he'd actually win. He's a very happy baby – although he wasn't when he had his photo taken with the trophy, he wanted to eat it!" said Yasmin.
Winner of the 10-18 months category was cheeky chappy Dexter Bennett, 13 months, who lives with his parents Dave and Sharilee on Francis Street, in the north of the city.
"My sister enters her kids every year so my partner suggested we enter Dexter, but we never thought he'd win. We're really pleased and the money will go into the bank to help pay for him to go to university," said his mum Sharilee.
"He's a cheeky baby but he's a good lad – he doesn't cry much and he's very photogenic, he loved having his picture taken!" she added.
The 19-36 month category was won by Zak Worley and the 3-5 years by Hope Dickenson.
Three-year-old Hope lives with her mum Alison Baker and elder sister Shannon, 18, in Highfield Avenue in the Boultham area.
Alison said: "I'm delighted, really chuffed – I entered her because she's special and I wanted to see her in the paper. She loves dancing, singing, playing and smiling a lot – most of the time she's a good girl!"
Hope starts this week at Hartsholme Academy's nursery and is looking forward to making new friends.
