Dean Gaffney in hospital after serious car accident days before visit to Lincoln Theatre Royal
UPDATE: February 1- Lincoln Theatre Royal has confirmed the following: "Dean is in hospital in Derby, he is off the critical list now and is recovering. We wish him well and can confirm that although he will not be appearing in A Murder is Announced at the Lincoln Theatre Royal, the play will still be going ahead on the advertised dates at the theatre."
Dean Gaffney, due to star in A Murder Is Announced at Lincoln Theatre Royal starting Monday, February 4, is in hospital following a serious car accident on Wednesday night in Derby.
The father-of-two was rushed to hospital in a critical condition before being stabilised, it has been reported.
Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo on the morning of Wednesday he talked about how much he was enjoying starring in the Agatha Christie murder mystery and was looking forward to coming to the city.

The following statement has been released: "Ian Dickens Productions and Derby Theatre regretfully announce that Dean Gaffney, who is currently appearing in A Murder is Announced at Derby Theatre, has been involved in a serious car accident.
"He is currently being treated in hospital and we are awaiting more news on his condition.
"Having spoken with the rest of the cast, the company and theatre have decided to go ahead with the remaining performances.
"Our thoughts are with Dean and his family and we wish him all the best for his continued recovery over the coming days."
