“Hook, line and sinker! I got you rattled, young Nigel.

Anyway, Lincoln play in the same league as Luton but there is no comparison in terms of potential as, indeed, there is little comparison between Halifax and Harrogate apart from a very ephemeral meeting for a brief encounter or so. In some years time there will be a gulf of some description between these two groups of two teams.

Anyways, young man.....I leave with my integrity intact and I think you do (with some of your points). However, in this modern game, if you asked a manager if he'd employ a full-back with no heading ability you'd be given short-shrift!

I wish you good luck for the rest of the season for you and whoever you support!

“In additioin they have to be the first to cut out corners and crosses to the near post and, as you don't seem to be aware, they have to clear with their head. So, you show me a full back who doesn't have to head the ball and I'll eat my stetson.

Oh my god you really are unbelievable with your lack of knowledge of the game aren't you! If a fullback has to be heading crosses away at the near post, then he would be out of position for one and secondly the winger would drive into the space vacated by the fullback wouldn't he! geeez man get a grip will you. Again a full back does not have to be strong in the "air".

Moving onto your other, quite frankly, absurd statements , like claiming I have another guise, just because someone else agrees with me within another story, is just laughable, and for you to even suggest it makes me wonder about your own integrity.

As for your"deliberate" mistake, I'll point out that you have made yet another "gaff" with that statement, as how is playing for Harrogate worse than playing for Halifax? they both play in the same league for goodness sake!

Anyway leave it with you "old man", be interesting to see where Bore ends up eh?”

“Well..... young nigel. I'm so pleased you spotted my deliberate mistake.

Harrogate Town...... it actually gets worse than Halifax Town! Oops!

I think you are a bit of a "greenhorn" when it comes to football. If you knew your stuff, as you say you do, you'd know that full backs cover for their colleagues in the centre of defence and have to deal with crosses to the far post. In additioin they have to be the first to cut out corners and crosses to the near post and, as you don't seem to be aware, they have to clear with their head. So, you show me a full back who doesn't have to head the ball and I'll eat my stetson.

Anyway, despite your thoughts, I do not necessarily think that Bore is not a good footballer. He may be fantastic and have all the ability in the world but if he hasn't got the "stomach" for a battle at this level then he will struggle anyway. And from what I saw and other would seem to agree he didn't have it.

Having read other comments about him I think you are in a minority of..... erm..... one! Maybe two if we utilise your "other" guise!

Enjoy your season.... whoever you support!

“Oh dear Redimpsfan now I know for sure your knowledge of the game is very limited to say the least.

As I thought you are one of those fans that prefer to see their players "flying into tackles" (that's an analogy by the way) and run around like he's got ants in his shorts (another analogy).

Having first seen Peter Bore play when he was just 14, he is a lad with an abundance of talent for the lower echelon of professional football. He started out life as wide player, often asked to fill in as a striker, but latterly, was converted to a right back, which for me is his best position.

Defenders should never go "flying into tackles" and as such are coached not do so, until it is absolutley necessary. They are coached and instructed to stay on their feet keeping themselves between the ball and the goal, either shepherding their opponent away from goal, or keeping them on their weaker side, and if the opportunity presents itself, then get a foot in. A manager will go nuts if a defender commits to a tackle and not win it, especially at fullback, as by doing so will make life so easy for the winger to get passed you and get a cross in.

Being a right back, one's heading ability is not high on the list of priorities, as rightbacks tend to be out wide!, same as a winger.

The whole team play a system implemented and instructed by the manager/coaching staff, which does vary for a number of reasons, of which I will not go into at this time, however suffice to say, a manager may not want his wingers to track back, so basically to say a player doesn't want to track back, may not be down to the player, he could be following instructions from his manager or coach.

So that my friend is why you and one or two others on here should think about how the game is played, before coming out with the punditry remarks about a player.

Finally, Peter Bore has never played for Halifax Town either!.”

“No, nigel, I base it on what your opinion is, purely and simply. I just happened to note that your comments are usually met with derision.

I will tell you what I think of Bore.

Firstly, "spineless" means that he won't/can't tackle i.e. he backs off too much. He appears to lack the "desire" to actually go and win ball and make a difference.

Secondly, he seems to have pace but, challenged with getting back up with play having lost the ball, he meanders back as if tomorrow will do. i.e. no effort to get back and get a ball-winning challenge in.

Thirdly, poor in the air. Won few, if any, headers in a league that being good in the air is almost a must.... as, I suppose, it should be in all the lower divisions.

Maybe he had all the skill in the world but I suspect that prior to moving to Lincoln City being a substitute at Halifax Town was indicative of where he was in their "pecking" order.

Worth a gamble but simply did not pay off.

“"nigelsparky you consistently show on this website that you don't have much of an understanding about football.

Really? and you form this basis of opinion on the little red arrow rating do you?

You see redimpsfan, you and one or two others like you, keep coming out with rather silly "punditry" statements that you here on programmes like "match of the day" without actually knowing what is meant by them, such as claiming Bore was "spineless".

When challenged to explain what you actually mean in footballing terms by such a statement, you fail to answer, instead preferring to resort to making rather flippant remarks towards me.

That is where me, you and people like you differ redimpsfan, I ask people who come out with some of these silly statements to explain what it is they actually mean, rather than " well Alan Hansen or whoever in the game said it so it must be true"

So here is another one for you redimpsfan " I have forgotten more about the game than you'll ever know" :)”

“nigelsparky you consistently show on this website that you don't have much of an understanding about football.

Not many footballers 'Go "diving" headlong into tackles" as far as I'm aware.

I think your comment ratings are fairly representative of what other people think of your opinions on football and, I guess, maybe most of your other opinions.

“hi redimpsfan, not sure what you mean by "spineless" in the footballing sense? Do you mean he didn't go "diving" headlong into tackles? or run around like a headless chicken maybe? Perhaps you can elaborate on what it is you actually mean?.

One of the worse signings in recent times? I must admit, there has been an abundance of those, but Bore? No I don't think so.”

“Bore never really found his 'groove' here at Lincoln. He only ever played reasonably ok at right back but even then I felt uncomfortable with him on the pitch. DH is doing the sensible thing by getting rid of those he won't be keeping in the summer. Let's just hope he gets a few of our current crop signed up for the new season - you never know it might be a good one! UTI”
