Denby lorry uses Lincoln Cathedral picture to promote city across Europe

A stunning panoramic view of Lincoln Cathedral has been added to a trailer for a Lincolnshire haulage firm.

Denby Transport will take the truck on jobs around Europe, hoping it will help promote the city.

The firm's boss has also pledged to donate 1p to the cathedral for every mile the Lincoln Lorry travels in its first 12 months on the road, after it was unveiled today.

With 90,000 miles predicted to be clocked up, around £900 could be generated for work on the building's southwest turret.

Peter Denby, who runs the business, said: "Lincoln Cathedral has always been very close to our heart - you know you are nearly home when you see it on the hill.

"We recognise that it takes an incredible amount of money to keep on top of the restoration work and over the years we have always tried to support those efforts."

The photograph used for the design was taken from the Bailgate water tower last year by Dick Makin.

The finished artwork, which includes the Red Arrows, was produced by family-owned Lincoln business Ruddocks Design & Print.

Emma Tatlow, the manager of the Visit Lincoln Partnership, said: "With the lorry travelling far and wide across Europe the stunning image of the iconic cathedral and the Red Arrows will be seen by thousands of people.

"I hope it inspires them to find out more about the city - and ultimately come here for a visit."
