POLICE have confirmed a body discovered earlier this month is that of missing doctor James Layfield.

The body was found at Fodderdyke Bank in Friskney, near Boston.

DNA analysis of the body has confirmed the deceased was the 53-year-old doctor, who has been missing since June 14.

Family and police had described the doctor's disappearance of the GP as "out of character".

The GP had worked at the Beacon Medical Practice in Skegness.

Despite post mortem examinations being carried out after he was discovered, a cause of death has not yet been established.

An inquest is expected to be opened in the future, although a date for this has not yet been set.
