Dog zone legal issue
HOPES of a quick amendment to the dog zone on Chapel St Leonards beach have been dashed.
The parish council contacted East Lindsey District Council to enquire about reducing the size of the current seasonal Dog Control Order but have been informed that only ELDC can revoke or amend the order. If the parish council was to go forward with seeking an amendment, they would be liable to meet the authority's legal costs which could run into several thousand pounds.
Some councillors suggested not putting signage for the order back up but clerk Michael Green said: "If you have a dog exclusion zone you are duty bound to make that zone clear."
Councillors agreed that the status quo should be maintained for now but that the clerk should make enquires as to accurate costings to amend the order from ELDC.
