This is Lincolnshire

As a large, flat county, Lincolnshire has proved a perfect site over the centuries for harnessing wind power. It is estimated that at one time there were more than 500, using energy from the wind to help process crops and produce electricity. The remains of 136 are still evident in Lincolnshire today.

One of the best known is Heckington Windmill, which has recently won a grant of nearly £1 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund for redevelopment. It is the only surviving eight-sailed windmill in the country.

From Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday inclusive, the mill is open from noon to 5pm. Baking demonstrations will take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1 – 3pm and on Easter Saturday and Sunday children's activities will be held in the tearooms and an Easter egg hunt in the windmill. Admission is free to the ground floor. Entry to the upper floors costs £2 for adults and £1 for children.
