LINCOLN CITY'S tribunal showdown with Torquay United has been scrapped after the two clubs finally agreed compensation for Mustapha Carayol.

Details of the deal remain undisclosed, but the Echo understands the Imps will pay a five-figure sum for the winger as well as including a sell-on clause in the package.

Imps chairman Bob Dorrian moved quickly to negotiate a deal with the Torquay hierarchy ahead of Saturday's game between the sides which the Devon outfit won 2-0.

He took the decision amid fears an independent tribunal panel, who were due to decide on a price for the player at a hearing tomorrow, could have left the Imps paying over the odds for the highly-rated Gambian.

But the City supremo believes the deal he has in place for the 22-year-old, who joined the club on a two-year deal in May, suits both parties.

"The details of the deal will remain undisclosed, but I certainly believe it suits us for a player of his quality," he said.

“Chesterfield have signed Dean Morgan from MK Dons. He was exceptional for Aldershot against us last season. I'd rather have seen him than Broughton, and Facey.

    Up the Imps”

“I have it on good authority from my mums sisters sons girlfriends cats vets friends auntys son that it only cost us £10,000 and a couple of easy goals at the weekend.”
