European funding key to creating year-round attraction in Skegness
AN all-year attraction could be created in Skegness if the town is successful with a bid for European funding.
Although full details have yet been revealed, the town's Mayor Mark Anderson said a bid has been made for £4.2 million through a partnership of the public and private sector, including local businesses.

The mayor said: "This will provide a brand new attraction to our town all year round on the foreshore. It is a very exciting venture between the private and public sector and a bid for £4.2million has been made.
"It will create in the region of 65 new jobs, something which Skegness particularly needs, as a lot of the jobs in the town are seasonal.

"The bid has the support of Skegness Town Council, East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership.
"We should know in March this year and hopefully the champagne corks will be flying in Skegness."
The bid comes as the Government announces coastal businesses can share in a £250,000 fund to improve their digital technology.
The money will help open up new opportunities to businesses in the industrial, retail and hospitality sectors along the coast who can bid for a share of the funding from April.
Some coastal towns, such as Scarborough, received millions of pounds of investment through the initiative.
Mr Andserson said: "I am sorry to hear once again that we haven't benefited as much as other coastal communities have but I think if our bid in the Skegness Investment Strategy is successful, it will really be a time for celebration."
The bid has been made as part of the remaining European Regional Development Fund 2007-13 Priority Axis 2 funding as one of the projects for Lincolnshire.
