A former deputy headteacher from Lincolnshire has been exposed as a paedophile.

Kevin Crabb, who had worked at Ancaster CofE Primary School, in south Lincolnshire, has been convicted of a series of sex attacks carried out to satisfy a perverted fetish.

Crabb confessed in court to an obsession with girls' underwear.

The 54-year-old accepted assaulting five young girls, but the prosecution claimed he carried out more serious assaults than he admitted on three of the youngsters.

Yesterday the jury at Lincoln Crown Court found him guilty of three charges of indecent assault and two offences of indecency with a child.

Twice-married Crabb, a teacher since 1975, who carried out the attacks during the late 1980s and early 1990s while he was the deputy head of Ancaster Primary School, near Sleaford, had already admitted six indecent assaults.

Giving evidence, he claimed his actions were limited to engineering situations in which he could look at young girls' knickers and pat their bottoms.

He said: "I was attracted to seeing the back of girls' knickers or pants. The exposure of their pants or bottom was something I got pleasure from.

Therefore when a child was performing a handstand I would have seen her exposed pants. That was the trigger that gave me the pleasure."

Crabb, who went on to become head of Wawne Primary School in East Yorkshire for more than a decade, was able to escape detection until one victim finally spoke out.

Crabb, of Kaywood Crescent, Skirlaugh, Hull, was granted conditional bail after sentence was adjourned until next month.
