Ex-soldier planning night out for Heroes
AN ex-soldier from Ruskington hopes to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes by organising a musical night at the Sleaford Legionnaires Club in October.
Steve Wiles, 46, who served for 22 years in the RAF, is organising the evening of entertainment for the fourth year running and has raised £7,000 from the previous three events.
Steve said: "Having reached a sum of £7,000 pounds over three years, myself and my helpers would ideally like to hit the £10,000 mark this year."
During his time in the RAF, Steve spent four months in Afghanistan and witnessed 19 bodies being flown home following fatalities as well as many more fellow soldiers who were sent home with damaging wounds.

He added: "If I can help to just give a little bit of my time to help the injured in their quest for recovery, it will make me feel proud.
"I also have a son who is serving in the REME and he loves the life so, its with pride that I do it for him as well."
Entertainment on the night will include pop/rock band Superbus who will be the main act of the evening.
They will be joined by 14 year old singer George Cowell, who is about to begin studying Music and Drama for GCSE at St George's Academy.
Other acts include Latvian violinist Laura Jonuska who has performed all over the country and will play violins on the night that have been made by Bridge Violins of Sleaford.
Steve will be playing bass as part of Unblinkered, a band put together specifically for the event.
The evening will take place on Saturday, October 5, from 7pm and will include a raffle.
