Breaking news: Lincoln City drawn at Bolton Wanderers in FA Cup third round
Lincoln City have been drawn at Premier League side Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round.
The Imps' reward for defeating Northwich Victoria 3-1 is a trip to Gary Megson's side, who last played City in an FA Cup second-round tie in 1993. Bolton won 3-1 at Sincil Bank on that day, defeating Keith Alexander's side, who netted through David Johnson.

Lincoln City fans celebrate Saturday's victory at Northwich Victoria.
"It's a nice draw for us, a great stadium for us to play at and for the fans to visit, but from a footballing point of view Chris (Sutton) will go there and try to get a result," said Lincoln City chairman Steff Wright.
The tie will be played over the weekend of Saturday, January 2.

“Is it coincidence that on a day when we had busloads of supporters going to Northwich and really getting behind the team, the players went out and performed really well? Let's hope we can get similar support for home games -- and that the whingers, who jeer and boo, carry out their promise and stay home!! I'm sure it would improve the Imps' form immeasurably.”

“Well Mr Campos Comb. I suggest you advise all the Bolton fans to turn up for this game it could be the best chance you have of getting rid of Mr Megson. He will surely be sacked after the humiliation of being beaten at home by a team of part timers and loanees. Wouldn't it be so much better to have 20,000 fans booing the manager rather than the pitiful numbers who normally turn out for cup matches at your huge club.”

“your poor little club of part timers and loan signings is going to get a total tonking! you will be playing against a premer league team that has played in europe, we have issues at the min, both on and off the field, but i doubt a league 2 side (who are struggling a bit themselves) could pull of a huge win at the reebok stadium...not a cat in hells! see u all there :P”

“You're making a negative statement on a positive day so I feel it only fair to point out in your "clever" barb at the board, Where's is spelt incorrectly. All this extra revenue covers for the part time fans who are leaving Lincoln with a loss due to falling gates. What's the betting those part timers climb on the band waggon and make their way to Bolton?”

“Well lets hope that all this extra revenue will be spent on rebuilding the squad with contract players without the fans having to ask each other WHERES ALL THE MONEY ?”

“Maybe the club should do a decent transport offer again. Maybe not free bus travel but something like £5 per person would surely encourage some decent away support. Like Lemmy, Hykeham says, we should all be up for this one. There was no upset yesterday, but against Bolton there really could be!”

“Lincoln provided free buses last round. Any chance they'll do free flights for the Bolton match?”

“We were down to the last 4 in the draw with Man U still there too. Of course that would have been amazing for us but I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with this one we got. Why? Because we're in with a half chance of beating them and then getting even more lovely dosh in the 4th round. Plus this is going to be like a cruncher Derby game with form book out of the window: Ex Blackburn player against local rivals; I hope all of Lincoln are up for going to this one. Can't wait!!”
