FA Cup victory secures £1,000 cash windfall for Sleaford Town
GLEN MADDISON admitted Sleaford Town's FA Cup excursion could dramatcially improve their finances after they negotiated their way into the next round of the competition.
The former Boston United reserve team boss watched as his side coasted past Holwell Sports last weekend, securing a 2-0 win in the Extra Premlinary round contest.

Goals from Ryan Oliver and Tony Edwards were the perfect boost ahead of the United Counties League Premier Division curtain raiser this weekend when they entertain Cogenhoe at Eslaforde Park.
But crucially Sleaford picked up a cool £1,000 in prize money for the victory which delighted Maddison.

"I was so pleased to get that win purely because the money you can earn from the competition makes such a big difference to a club like ours," he said.
"Of course, it's a cliche, but every little bit helps and to pick up £1,000 in prize money is an enormous help.
"The further we go the more money we will earn and if we do well then it's going to dramatically help us out especially when all the money in the playing budget has gone.
"I've not been able to check this out yet, but I was told that it was the first cup win Sleaford have had in the last three years.
"So that was pleasing as well, but really the money is so important and hopefully we can do the same in the next round."
Sleaford's win against Holwell has set them up perfectly for the league clash against Cogenhoe which is then followed by another home game against Holbeach on Tuesday night.
After avoiding relegation last season, survival is Sleaford's priority in what is a new era after previous boss Brian Rowland stepped down.
Maddison said as much as he would love to challenge at the top end of the table, he admits remaining in the division is the first aim.
And he said a comfortable mid-table finish would be a respectable achievement.
"To beat Holwell has given us something to build on in what are two tough home games for us," he said.
"Cogenhoe will be a comfortable mid-table team this season and they will be a hard team to play against.
"Then we face Holbeach who I think are a very, very good side and I am sure they will be up there this season.
"It will certainly be a test for us. I think as far as we are concerned and looking at the job Brian did, he did terrifically well.
"He kept the club up last season and that has to be the first priority, although I feel a mid-table finish would be a good achievement.
"As much as every manager wants to be up there challenging you have to be realistic."
