FOOD MONSTER: Thai Sabai in Brayford Wharf North, Lincoln
Having enjoyed a visit to the Thailand Number One last week, I've decided to give another Thai eatery the Food Monster treatment.
Thai Sabai in Wigford Way is an authentically decorated restaurant on the first floor, with large window views over the city.
We were looked after from the moment we set foot inside, with the attentive, cheerful and friendly staff attending to our every need.
The bound menus contained a plentiful selection of food, including set meal options.

As my dining partner and I fancied a bit of everything to start, we chose the Thai Sabai mixed starter.
While waiting for it to arrive we were brought a bowl of prawn crackers, which were nice to nibble on in anticipation.

A short time later the platter was delivered, comprising satay chicken, Por Pea Tod (homemade noodle and vegetable spring rolls), Tord Mun Pla (Thai fishcakes), Kanorm Pang Na Kai (marinated chicken on toast with sesame seeds) and Tung Tong (vegetable parcels). And there was two of everything!
This may seem obvious considering it's a starter for two but you'd be surprised at the number of places that serve odd numbers of items on food to be shared by a couple.
A nice mix of three dipping sauces, including sweet chilli, peanut and cucumber were a tasty accompaniment.
All of the starters were well cooked and flavoursome, with my favourites being the succulent satay chicken dipped in creamy peanut sauce and the crispy spring rolls packed full of veg and noodles.
There was plenty of food to help fill our stomachs, so much so we had difficulty finishing our mains when they arrived!
Thai Sabai prides itself on its Thai chefs who have more than 30 years experience and use authentic Thai cooking styles, which is clear when you taste the food.
We ordered a beef Pad Med Mamuang (a stir fry with cashew nuts, onions, chilli and spring onion, in a special Thai sauce), a chicken Pat Thai (stir fried noodles with egg, beansprouts and ground peanuts) and steamed, fragrant rice to share.
My favourite Thai dish has to be Pat Thai and it did not disappoint.
A generous amount of chicken complemented the sweet mix of noodles perfectly and the crunchy ground peanut topping makes this simple dish a clear winner in my opinion.
The beef stir fry was tasty and had just the right amount of heat from the chilli.
We barely made a dent in the rice! It's a shame that 'sticky rice' was not an option on the menu as I think it has to be the best side dish you can order from a Thai eatery.
The staff were extremely attentive throughout and had the ability to serve us and inquire on the meal without intrusion.
I was mightily impressed at the bill coming in at less than £40 after the feast of food we had consumed plus two glasses of wine.
It would be easy to walk past Thai Sabai with it not facing directly onto the street, but make the effort to climb the stairs or get the lift up as I can definitely recommend it.
And the recent edition of a bar next to the restaurant means you can now have a drink in comfortable surroundings either before or after your meal.
THE FOOD: Thai Sabai mixed starter for two £11.95, Pad Med Mamuang £7.95, Pat Thai £7.50, fragrant rice £2.95, two glasses of house wine £7.
FINAL VERDICT: Really tasty, fragrant Thai dishes; fantastically conscientious and polite staff; very reasonable prices.
