Female dies in collision between car and HGV on A1 at Long Bennington

A female passenger has died after a collision involving a car and a heavy goods vehicle on the A1 at Long Bennington.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa with four passengers on board collided with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on the slip road leading from the village of Long Bennington to the southbound carriageway of the A1.

The incident happened at 8.15 this morning.

The female passenger in the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old driver was taken to Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham with arm and other injuries which are not believed life-threatening. Two other females in the car were not seriously injured.

The 52-year-old HGV driver was not injured.
