A WALKING festival has stepped up to be a success.

The organisers of the 8th Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival, which included walks in the Louth and Horncastle area, have hailed the festival a success.

Despite some adverse weather, over 4,500 walkers attended the festival this year, choosing from 92 walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds and sur- rounding countryside.

Stuart Parker, chairman of the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival Steering Group said: "We're delighted so many people joined us this year, all of whom, no matter what age, seemed to have really enjoyed taking part.

"I would like to thank all those who were involved in making it a success, particularly the walk leaders, most of whom are volunteers."

Next year's Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival will be from May 18 to June 2.
