Firefighters wanted in Wragby
People who live or work close to Wragby Fire Station are being called to volunteer as paid, on-call firefighters.
The station on Millbrook Lane needs more men and women to join its ranks. To find them, a recruitment day is being held at the town hall from 10am to 12noon, and 1pm to 3pm on Thursday 18 October. Serving firefighters will be on-hand to give advice and answer any questions.
Laura Wint-McKane, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue's recruitment manager, says:
"Being an on-call firefighter is an exciting, challenging and rewarding way to help your local community. If you're interested, please come along - the recruitment event will give you a great feel for what it's like to work in the fire and rescue service."
On-call firefighters, who can be men or women, need to be aged 18 or over, live or work within five minutes of the fire station, and be in sufficiently good health to meet the physical demands of the job.
Like their whole-time colleagues, on-call firefighters are highly trained to deal with a range of emergency situations, including fires and road traffic accidents. They are normally employed in a 'regular' job and are called out when needed to deal with an emergency - usually a local one.
