Fishing lakes at Whisby Garden Centre closed for foreseeable future
The fishing lakes at Whisby Garden Centre have been closed for the foreseeable future due to a lack of business.
The site, off Whisby Road in Lincoln, has three lakes for course fishing but trade has been slow over the winter and the decision has been made to close.

Keith Hage, lake manager, said: "They were not taking any money during the winter season.
"Nobody, apart from the matches on Saturdays, was using the lakes and therefore there was no money coming in so they took the decision to close the lakes.

“but neither do I see how closing the lakes is good for bringing money in either. Once a lake is dug how much does it cost to run? They don't appear to spend any money on them in maintenance and I'm pretty sure they don't spend money feeding the fish, so where are the on-going costs.
To be honest though, the garden centre itself has gone down hill dramatically over the last few years, so doesn't pull in people the way it did.”

“Old Lincolnia - This is a business, how are they going to make money out of that? I can't understand how another business struggling is "good news"”

“Good news. Use the lakes for something people ARE interested in, even just watching wildlife.”
