Friendship club for men set up at Lincoln allotment
A club for men over the age of 50 to meet and make friends has been set up at an allotments in Lincoln.
The A-Lot-'o'-Men project was set up earlier this year by four Lincolnshire charities to help men meet new people through gardening.
Age UK Lincoln has taken a plot at Boultham Glebe Allotments where friendships have already started to form.
Helena Burt, from Age UK Lincoln said: "We have three regular volunteers who are really enjoying working at the allotment and have all met through the club.

"Surveys had shown that men over 50 were more likely to feel isolated and there seem to be less opportunities for men who have, perhaps, gone through redundancies or relationship break-downs to go out and have the opportunity to socialise.”
Helena added that although the club was set up for men to enjoy it was open for anyone to be part of.
