PETROLHEADS are set to rev into town on Saturday for the second annual Boston Modified Car Show.

Organised by police and www.customandmodifiedcarz.co.uk the free event is at Boston College's Rochford Campus car park in Skirbeck Road from 11am to 4pm.

Last year's inaugural show attracted more than 150 vehicles and 300 visitors and it is hoped the 2010 version will be even bigger and better.

PCSO Neil Williams, who is among the event organisers, told the Target: "We're keen to encourage as many young people to this event as possible and there will clearly be loads going on.

"As well as the chance to show off your car to visitors and win prizes, there is the opportunity to soak up some road safety messages and understand the importance of driving responsibly.

"Last year's show was a brilliant success and I'm sure this event has the potential to be an annual highlight in the county's calendar."

Supported by the Lincs Road Safety Partnership, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, LIVES and Boston Borough Council, the show is aimed at educating young motorists into driving more responsibly.

It is staged for the avid car enthusiast with particular focus on young drivers and modified car owners are being encouraged to bring their vehicles along and take part with a chance to win trophies.

In addition to family entertainment such as a street dance group, inflatables and driving games, the event will have a serious element featuring a number of road safety demonstrations including a collision scene recreation and a Peugeot 206 car crash simulator.

There will be many trade stands offering information and advice plus the Audio Assault Car – a modified vehicle with massive speakers – and a drifting display vehicle, specially modified to drift sideways around corners.

There will also be an opportunity to win driving activity days.
