Fundraising push for churches threatened with closure in Lincolnshire village
A FUNDRAISING event has been planned in a bid to raise the profile of two churches under the threat of closure.
Frampton's St Michael's Church and St Mary's Church are in danger of closing due to dwindling numbers.
And to try and save the churches, a committee has formed in an attempt to attract more people.
Committee members Rex and Val Halgarth have organised the first fundraising event, a Rock 'n' Roll Party at Blackfriars Theatre on January 18 at 7.30pm featuring Lincolnshire's Status Quo tribute band.

Mr Halgarth said: "The school, post office and shop closed years ago, now the village pub. Are our churches next? And do the villagers care?
"540 magazines were delivered to more than 1,000 residents in October and December asking for help and ideas, which fell of deaf ears. Not one phone call or offer of help was received.
"The people expect the churches to be there for their needs such as christenings, weddings and funerals but unless something is done in the near future they will not be there. Wake up Frampton and show some concern."
Committee members are hoping people in the village will offer support in way of volunteering or organising events at the church. Discussions are still under way for more events that could include an art exhibition and party in the park.
Mr Halgarth added: "We want to organise events to attract all the families. The churches are beautiful and it would be a shame to lose them.
"The committee is working tirelessly to do something to attract people to the church not only on a Sunday to services but all through the year."
Tickets for the Rock 'n' Roll party which will feature local singer Dave Logan are £10. Limited tickets are available from Blackfriars Box Office on 01205 363108 or by calling 01205 723579.
