TEAM GB's Emily Parker is hoping for a repeat of last year's gold medal success as she heads to the European Championships this weekend in the Czech Republic.

For the second year running, 20-year-old Emily, from Walesby, near Market Rasen, will be representing Great Britain for the under-21 eventing squad and will be hoping to bring home another team gold medal to match the team's outstanding performance in the 2009 championships.

Five other riders will be travelling out to the competition, where four will make up the British team and also compete in the individual event, while the two others will only compete as individuals.

However, the team will not be confirmed until the riders arrive in the Czech Republic.

The competition requires strong performances in three different disciplines – cross-country, showjumping and dressage – a challenge for even the most accomplished rider.

But Emily is confident that both she and her 10-year-old bay gelding Treefers will be able to secure a place as one of the four team riders.

"Hopefully I'll be riding in the team again and we can do as well as we did last year," she said.

"Of course, I'd really like an individual medal, too. The cross-country and showjumping are my favourite events but we've been improving in the dressage and we've been really consistent through the year so we should be okay."

Emily, a student at Nottingham Trent University, has been training intensely with dressage trainer Jess Parr and eventing coach Caroline Moore.

"We've had a full week of training but the horses had to leave earlier than us so they should already be there," she said.

"But it's been quite hot over here so hopefully the horses will have already acclimatised to the conditions we could be riding in at the weekend so we should be able to get some really good results."
