A statue of Alfred, Lord Tennyson at Lincoln Cathedral has had a traffic cone added to his head.

It is thought a passing prankster adorned the statue with the bright orange decoration, fixing it in place with a padlock and chain.

The former poet laureate has several events dedicated to him at the ongoing Lincoln Book Festival to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth in Lincolnshire.
