Halifax at the Shay on Boxing Day, with Craig Nelthorpe starting in
place of Jonathan D'Laryea. Bradley Barraclough was starting his second
consecutuive match for the Blues, with Housham opting for the Lincoln
City loan man in place of Dominic Knowles.
The game was brought to life after eight minutes when Terry Hawkridge
stepped inside his man on the edge of the area and let rip with a left
foot shot which crashed against the bar.Two minutes later Trinity skipper Michael Leary looped a shot just over.
There was a let off for Trinity when Mark Wilson lost the ball in the
middle of the park but Gareth Seddon's shot was weak and wide.
Trinity hit the woodwork for the second time after 23 minutes. A well
flighted corner from Hawkridge found Darryn Stamp at the near post but
his flicked header hit the post.
As Trinity piled on the pressure, a Craig Nelthoprpe cross was headed
just over by Danny Hone and then Bradley Barraclough headed just wide
from a Josh Wilde cross.
On 52 minutes, Nelthorpe put the Blues ahead with ther first attack of
the second half. His shot from 22 yards was deflected by a Halifax
defender giving Glennon no chance.
Trinity fans were calling for a penalty after 60 minutes, when
Barraclough was brought down in the area but the referee ignored their
appeals.
Two minutes later, the referee did give a spot kick. Great work by
Barraclough saw him wriggle into the box before being brought down and
Hawkridge fired in Trinity's second.
It was 3-0 just a minute later. A deft chip over the defence by Dominic
Roma was finished emphatically by Stamp with a volley into the bottom
corner to give the Blues a New Years Day victory.
