Steve Housham has reported having a 'very positive' conversation with Mark Jones as he bids to bring the striker to Gainsborough Trinity.

The 14-goal frontman, currently plying his trade at Trinity's county rivals Boston United, is wanted by the Blues boss to help fire the club towards promotion to the Blue Square Premier League. After putting in seven days notice for the player, Housham was able to speak with Jones yesterday.

"Both myself and the chairman had conversations with Mark," said Housham. "We have tried to tell him what Gainsborough Trinity is all about and the talks seemed to go off in a very positive fashion. I am not the kind of manager to pressurise anyone so we will not be rushing Mark for a decision. Hopefully we have explained what we think he could do for Gainsborough and what we think Gainsborough could do for him.

"But we have tried to sell the club to him and I have even offered him a car parking space at my house," Housham joked. "Now it is up to Mark, but he is under no pressure to make a decision."
