Ex Lincoln City midfielder Simon Russell has joined Gainsborough Trinity from Blue Square Bet Premier side Alfreton Town.

"Simon was with us during pre-season, but we had so many midfielders at the club then we could not offer him a deal at the time," said Housham.

"We have kept tabs on the player and we are delighted to finally bring him to the club. He is a very busy midfield player who likes to get on the ball. He has lots of energy which will suit us in the middle of the park and he is able to play for us in the FA Trophy."
