Gainsborough mum-of-five banned from owning animals after dog's death
A mum-of-five whose dog died after swallowing a string food net has been banned from owning animals for two years.
The RSPCA found German Shepherd-cross Marley's emaciated body at Tara Jakes' address in Theaker Avenue, Gainsborough.

Two-year ban: Tara Jakes
Lincoln Magistrates' Court heard death was probably due to loss of fluid caused by vomiting because the small intestine was blocked for two-to-three days.
Jakes, 39, admitted unnecessary suffering by failing to seek veterinary care between February 17 and 24.

Jakes was fined £75 with £100 costs and a £15 surcharge. Her ban prevents her from owning, keeping or participating in keeping animals.

I'm on benefit so I couldn't afford the vet fees!'
Lady, if you can't afford to care for your pet in sickness and in health, then DON'T HAVE A DOG!
Anyway, a Mum of five would be on at least £330 per week Child Tax Credit, £72 Child Benefit even if she goes to work and pays tax like the rest of us!
If she's on benefit with her rent and council tax paid as well, you can guarantee that she pockets at least £600 a week off the state!
Maybe Social Services ought to have a visit too as it's a well known fact that murderers and child abusers often begin by abusing animals!
Some responsibility in this case ought to lie with the breeders and Sellers of pet animals too... Maybe if proper checks had been done at point of sale into whether this family were capable of caring for a dog as a LIFELONG COMMITMENT then maybe this tragedy would never had occurred...
