Gainsborough syndicate toasts Lotto win
A syndicate named Mrs Brown’s Boys from Gainsborough is celebrating after scooping £52, 389 on the Lotto.
They matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on Saturday August 3.
The syndicate of eight formed in May 2009 when their local pub, the Gainsborough Park closed down.
As regulars they didn’t want to see it close, so they formed the syndicate to buy back the pub and reopen it if they won big.

The syndicate is made up of joint syndicate leaders Mervyn and Simone Chadwick, Linda Turner, Paul Newton, Tony Owen and his wife Elaine and newest member Heather Brown – who only joined in January this year and is the inspiration for the syndicate name.
The other member does not wish to go public with the win.
Mervyn Chadwick, 52, told the Echo: “Simone woke me up at 3am saying ‘Oh my god we’ve won the lottery’ she made me get out of bed and check the numbers.
“In the morning we re-checked the numbers and rang everyone in the syndicate with the good news.
“We’re spending our share on home improvements. We’re replacing our boiler first of all and haven’t decided how we’ll spend the rest yet.”
They have played the same lines since the syndicate was formed and the winning line was picked by Paul Newton.
The winning ticket was bought from Morrisons on Heapen Road South, Gainsborough where Simone works as a supervisor.
The winning numbers from Saturday August 3 draw were 3, 5, 9, 13, 17, 37 and the bonus ball was 15.
The group will continue playing the same lines on the Lotto and hope to win again with enough to buy and re-open the pub in the future.
