Ghost theory for mystery orb in Old Hall photo
A mysterious ghostly face has appeared at a 550-year-old manor house where King Richard III and Henry VIII were once entertained, it is claimed.
The latest spooky visitor at Gainsborough Old Hall was spotted in a picture by Paul Spence (44), of Pietermaritz Street, Lincoln.
Mr Spence saw a silver orb above his head in a picture taken at a gathering of The Lord Burgh Retinue at the old hall. When the medieval re-enactment member zoomed in closer to examine the strange object, he found a face and a skull staring back.
The hall is famous for being haunted by a figure known as the Grey Lady and Mr Spence said he was struggling to explain the silver object in the picture.
"My girlfriend asked what it was in the picture but we said it might be a flash," he said.
"I then blew the picture up on my computer and thought it looked like the flash had a face on it. I thought there was two faces on it and one looked like a skull."
Author Sue Allan, from Glentham, also works as a tour guide around the old hall and said people had approached her after spotting orbs and ghost-like figures in the building.
"I have had people see things when I have been doing tours at the old hall," she said.
"The orbs are really strange. I have had someone come to me shaking and they showed me the orbs on their camera."

“Great to see the Old Hall getting some mention again, ive just booked into the Tudor Hog Roast at the Old hall on Saturday 25th, only costs £5....Bargain! Anyone else going to join me?
If you copy the ghostly image into a PUBLISHER document and englarge it before pasting into word doc, the face becomes noticable, quite weird really. Is it strange that im not scared by it??”

“I copied the picture and zoomed in on it myself. I do see a face in the centre (the lightest part)....however, it appears there is a blue oriental man to the far left :)”

“I have always been wary of such things catured on cameras - and always shall be. However, while at the Old Hall I have been approched on a number of occassions now by worried visitors reporting strange orb like things up in the Solar and on the main landing. Some have been visibly shaking and in some distress. And yes, on one occassion a lady and her small child captured strange sheres on the digital camera they had just used trying to capture what they had just encountered. I have also been stopped mid tour by 'something' briefly moving across the long gallery where sightings of the grey lady have been reported. Therefor I suggest that until and if science can come up with an iron clad answer to these happenings , we should keep an open mind. I certainly am.”

“What they need is Demon Repellent, the most effective is comprised of 3 parts Bishops urine to 1 part Holy Water, which attacks the exctoplasm and disperses the apparition to the astral plane where it belongs. Usually this works but if it not then I can recommend ordinary fly spray combined with the placement of a nice heavy cross at the place where the apparition was seen. Be careful when hammering nails in for the cross as apparitions are often attracted to the electromagnetic fields given out by underwall wiring.”

“Why do people have to be silly about these things. If you have nothing constructive to say "Dont bother".Was it taken on a 35mm or a digital camera?OK, lots of so called orbs are dust, moisture or flies but sometimes or very rarely there is something in them.I have pictures myself of "orbs" some explainable some not.Dont dismiss before you know the conditions!”

“I smell evil, burn them!
Have visitor numbers decreased that much they need the gullible LivingTV watchers money?”
