Gnat aircraft suffers 'heavy' landing at RAF Waddington ahead of air show

The pilot of a Gnat aircraft that suffered a heavy landing at RAF Waddington yesterday is reported to be fine.

The plane with red and white livery was photographed coming into land ahead of the Waddington International Air Show which starts tomorrow.

A spokesman for the show said: "We are aware of heavy landing that took place on Thursday. Everyone is fine, though. The Gnat is a robust aircraft and the runway has been checked and everything is okay ahead of the start of the show."

    If we have to recall a squadron of Gnats we really have got a problem. The airshow is not just about the spectators it is also about big business possibly bringing the UK employment opportunities and revenue. If we hadn't sold the Saudi's Hawks they wouldn't be here this weekend.”
