Grantham's Gravity Fields finale is out-of-this-world

The finale of Grantham's Sir Isaac Newton-inspired Gravity Fields festival was truly awe-inspiring.

This dazzling town centre experience featured a host of family entertainment including a huge fire pendulum, colourful processions and stunning aerial displays.

Thousands of people, from near and far, gathered earlier tonight to share in the spectacle that was the 'Transformation of the Town' – and the culmination of the eight-day science and arts festival.

Organisers South Kesteven District Council in conjunction with Rosa Productions, had promised an out-of-this-world experience - and they certainly delivered.

The event saw breath-taking aerial performances by Cirque Bijou in St Peter's Hill that developed during the evening and brought the event to a dramatic and spectacular ending.

A fantastic light show featured celestial imagery shot from the Hubble telescope and projected onto the Guildhall.

Over in the Market Place, The World Famous' fire installation of 15 pendulums - each with a flaming sphere - mesmerised the crowds.

While around 1,000 participants from local schools and community groups took part in five science-themed carnival processions which came together to form one long procession along the High Street towards the end of the event.

There were also fairground rides, food stalls, live music and dramatic performances.
