SLEAFORD Swaziland Community Friendship needs 97 more volunteers to raise £100 each so it can build and equip a new classroom for children in Swaziland, Africa.

The charity has launched the appeal to raise £10,000 so it can build a new classroom at the back of the church in Swaziland to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

So far, three people have pledged to raise £100 each to contribute to the build but a further 97 are needed to raise the total of £10,000.

Chairman and volunteer Lynda Clark is hoping more people will come forward and help out.

She said: "Interest has come from both regular supporters and people who had not heard of the charity before reading about the appeal in the Target.

"There is a lot of enthusiasm and some innovative ideas have been suggested so we are really excited about the prospect of achieving our target.

"People have told us that they will be going to car boot sales to get rid of their accumulated clutter and will donate the proceedings to SSCF – helping to solve two problems in one go.

"Another idea that has great potential is to start with nothing and 'grow' £100.

"This involves finding something that you can use to make into a small sum of cash that you then keep re-investing to increase the value until you get to your target sum."

Also, to help raise money SSCF has devised a general knowledge quiz with more than 100 questions that is on sale for £2.

The quiz is on sale at the launderette in Northgate and the closing date is December 1.

SSCF was formed 10 years ago when a group of 12 air cadets and five members of staff from the Sleaford squadron went to Swaziland to install a water supply at Nyamane Primary School, build a new block of pit latrines and a renovated shower block.
