HMV must change to survive, says Matt Corrigan from Lincoln BIG

HMV could survive administration in a different guise, according to the chief executive of Lincoln Business Improvement Group.

Matt Corrigan said there could be hope for the troubled retail entertainment chain, which has branches in Lincoln, Boston, and Grimsby.

"With HMV, the world has moved on in terms of downloads," he said.

"The first thing is to see if HMV can survive in a different guise.

"If it gets the business right then it's still viable.  Ironically, there has been an increase in people buying vinyl."

Mr Corrigan added that despite competition from internet sales and out of town shopping centres, retailers still want to be in Lincoln High Street.
