Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton remains calm despite Imps' 4-1 home loss to Celtic
CHRIS SUTTON insists he is not reading too much into Lincoln City's pre-season results after Celtic scooped the John Reames Memorial Trophy on Saturday.
The Scottish Premier League side romped to a 4-1 victory in the glamour friendly to inflict Lincoln's first defeat of the summer.

Lincoln City's Albert Jarrett begins his celebrations after putting the Imps ahead against Celtic at Sincil Bank.
Albert Jarrett had put Lincoln ahead, but a goal by the Hoops' new signing Daryl Murphy, a double from Ben Hutchinson and a strike from Simon Ferry sealed the win.
Sutton said he was satisfied with the exercise but insisted City's pre-season is only geared up to ensure they are ready to tackle Rotherham on August 7.
"It was a good workout," he said. "Celtic showed that if you are open – and we were rather too open at times – sides like that will punish you.
"That's why we shored it up at the end. But in the first half I felt we were comfortable, although the two goals in three minutes killed us.
"We made a mistake for the first one as Josh (O'Keefe) tried to do the right thing. Having said that, Murphy has moved for some big money and took his goal well.
"When it went to 4-1, that was it. But we are not getting carried away with the results in pre-season because it's all about fitness and building understanding."

“Surely the attendance fogure or 3780 is wrong. The coop stand alone holds about 6000 and must have been at least half full.”

“Kev, have you gone absolutely mad. Neil Lennon will win the league this season with Celtic, and the imps will not be fighting a relegation battle. Lincoln have a decent squad already and still have a few signings in the pipeline, and Celtics squad is so much stronger than last year already. It is clueless supporters like you who we do not need at the Bank next season.
Up the imps!!”

“Moulton - I agree with your 2nd post. If your saying sign a Facey/Broughton/Clapham character to play centre back then we have expoerience through the team.
I took your initial post as a dig at Baker. Apologies!”

“Steve, I didn't say anything about Baker. However in my opinion he would have been a far better player if he had played 100 games in the football League, rather than the zero when he came to us.
Whether you like it or not It's a fact that City's back four lacks experience :
Watts =19 games in 4 years
Swaibu = 43 games in 3 years
Anderson = 24 games last season.
Green is the only experienced player with over 150 games.
My ideal central defender would not be a "has-been". He would be well over 6 ft tall and around mid-twenties with over 250 games under his belt.
The problem with many Lincoln supporters is they think the only options open to the manager is players over the age of thirty or under twenty. As Chris Sutton has shown over the past few weeks this is not always the case.
So the sooner he signs experenced cover for Watts the better.”

“I too , a Celtic fan , was disgusted with the mindless hooligans who set off flares. They even threw some at their own fans. The police ,guided by C fans, hauled some of them out. They should be banned dealt with severely by the law and then banned by Celtic.”
