HRH The Princess Royal visited Deans: Sport and Leisure today to officially open the sports complex. Crowds gathered waving flags and cheering for the arrival of HRH The Princess Royal, who was introduced to local cadets before being greeted by the Principal John Allen, along with the Vice Principal Ian Sackree, Student Union President Chris Toulson and Chair of the Board Margaret Serna.

The Princess Royal was shown a range of activities and facilities available at Deans including a hairdressing and a demonstration at the fitness suite. The unveiling of the plaque took place in Dean's conference room, where students from Skills for Independence course were introduced along with lecturer Sandra Probert and Programme Manager Sally Heron. HRH The Princess Royal was shown how the students make use of the onsite allotments, and talked to the students about the benefits of the allotments and their course.
