IN reply to the businessmen who are upset by customers unable to support some of the businesses close to the Halal slaughterhouse.

In my first letter (Sept 5), I stated that my own reason for this was because of stress caused by being in the area, nothing more.

To boycott the businesses would be dreadful, but this was never suggested.

Some members of the public and I, being animal lovers could not tolerate seeing animals arriving at the abattoir, and all things associated with it.

It would be too upsetting as I personally know from the past.

I have been in touch with various businesses I support, explaining this to them and I found them very understanding.

Being concerned, I mentioned a way around the problem for those of us unable to face the area during the main working week.

Inconvenient this may be, but the only solution would be to either visit the businesses on a Saturday or Sunday (where applicable) when the abattoir is closed, or to have them deliver goods which some do already.

Digby's Pets and Aquatics for instance, have been delivering to me for years and will continue doing so.

In my letter (Sept 19), there was a misprint regarding a nearby diner and its approximate distance from the abattoir.

I actually said, "Metres away" and not "Three Metres".

In closing, I wish to say I have respect for those with religious beliefs which are important to them.

I just hope those involved will reconsider the introduction of the stunning method of slaughter, as they already have in many other halal slaughterhouses.

Briony Lill,

Skegness

“Theres one overwhelming reason to oppose Halal - 80% of the Halal licensing boards are owned by the Moslem Brotherhood, and the revenue from this licensing directly funds islamic terrorism against us. Do not purchase halal meat!!!!”
