Gainsborough Trinity came out of the blocks like a scolded cat to take a 2-0 lead into half time.
Club captain Michael Leary started the scoring and defender Luke Waterfall added a second as Trinity totally bossed the first half of this FA Trophy quarter-final tie at the Northolme.
Three minutes in, Terry Hawkridge sliced open the Barrow defence with a ball to Darryn Stamp, but Stamp's cross was over hit and Craig Nelthorpe
couldn't stretch for it. Trinity continued to push with a Nelthorpe free-kick which found Leary, but his header was saved down low by Shaun Pearson.

Barrow took time to find their feet, but Adam Boyes caused concern for the Blues defence with a shot which rose just over.
Jan Budtz was forced into action on 15 minutes with a diving save from a McConville header as Barrow reminded Trinity who was playing their football at the higher level.
Hawkridge was causing problems for the Barrow rearguard and it was the former Carlton man who set up Simon Russell for a left foot shot which went inches wide after 20 minutes.
Trinity took the lead on 21 minutes when a free-kick was put in to Stamp at the far post. He knocked it back across the goal where Leary was waiting to tap the ball over the line.
The relentles blue tide brought a second goal on 28 minutes. It was another free-kick by Hawkridge and Luke Waterfall, unmarked headed past Pearson.
With half time looming, Boye's header had beaten a sprawling Budtz, but the ball hit the post and rebounded to the safety of the Trinity keeper's hands.
But the Blues survived the scare and the teams went in with Trinity leading 2-0.
